How to use REEL in AMC

This document will explain how to use REEL in Auterion Mission Control

Refer to the previous page for how to connect REEL to PRISM Sky.

REEL is a plug and play product with PRISM Sky paired with Skynode and Auterion Mission Control. There is no additional software to download or utilize to use REEL with PRISM Sky. Simply connect the REEL to PRISM Sky via the included Winch Cable, power on the aircraft and ground station and then open AMC. The REEL control panel will appear in the bottom right of the program.

In the above graphic, you will see the control panel and various buttons as well as REEL telemetry information.

Telemetry

Current is the current in amperes being consumed by the motor inside of REEL. This value can vary depending on the weight of the package loaded onto the hook.

Torque is the value measured in n/cm that the motor is outputting at any given moment. This value can flucuate depending on package weight as well as if you are running a Delivery or not.

Spooled Out this is an estimation in feet based on the total line that was spooled onto the spool from Watts Innovations. It is an estimation based on motor rotations that is measured while performing a Delivery.

Lidar Distance is the distance in feet the Lidar sensor is from the ground. This is a measurement used by REEL to determine the delivery distance.

Button Meanings and Uses

Note: Using any of the functions on the REEL Control Panel will require the user to "Slide To Confirm" to ensure there are no accidental function triggers.

Press the Eject button on the control panel one time to move the eject pins into the open position. Press the button again to move the pins into the closed position.

Press the Freewheel button to unlock and present the hook, after the hook is present you can unspool it from the REEL as much as needed. If there is a knot in the line on the spool, you can use the Freewheel mode to pull the hook out and clear the line. Press the Freewheel button again and the line will be wound back onto the spool. Take note to apply pressure on the line when spooling back onto the spool to ensure a tight, evenly wound spool.

To load a package for the standard delivery mode, simply click on "Load Package" to unlock and present the hook. You can now load a package or payload onto the hook; and press the Load Package button again to pull the hook back into the REEL.
