Installing DoodleLabs Antennas

This page will show you how to install PRISM Sky Doodle C2 Antennas onto the aircraft.

We have refined the antenna placement and direction on PRISM Sky to improve and enhance the overall signal strength between PRISM Sky and the ground station/KONTACT. It is crucial to follow this document as closely as possible, specifically the antenna direction, to achieve the best results possible.

Tools RequiredIncluded from Watts Innovations

M2.5 Hex Socket Wrench

DoodleLabs Antennas

Antenna Rails

Velcro Strip x 2

NOTE: If you purchased your PRISM Sky from Watts Innovations after June 2023 you can skip to step 3. If you purchased your aircraft before June 2023 please contact Watts Innovations to order the necessary parts.

  1. Loosen the M3 bolts circled in red below. Fig 2. (click to enlarge photo)

  1. Slide either the front or the rear antenna rail through the two guides, as centered as possible from front to back. Please refer to Fig 1. above for information on which antenna rail is front vs back.

  2. Tighten down the M3 bolts circled in red and tighten to 11in-lbs.

WARNING: Take note of the orientation of the antenna extension itself! This is very important. If you purchased your drone after June 2023, you will simply need to rotate the antenna rails into the correct orientation and tighten the M3 bolt. Fig. 3

  1. Thread the antenna extension cable into the SMA connector on the side of the drone. Tighten it with your fingers as tight as you can; it is not necessary to use tools to tighten it further. Fig 4.

  1. Use the included Velcro strips to secure the antenna extension cable to the antenna rail. This is purely to take up the extra slack and eliminate the possibility for the cable to get caught in one of the propellers. Fig 5.

  1. Repeat the above steps for the opposite antenna rail. Please refer to Fig. 6 & 7 for exact antenna direction and placement.

  2. Ensure all M3 bolts are fully tightened before flying and that both antenna extensions are connected to the aircraft as well as the cables secured to the antenna rails.

CAUTION: Be sure to install antennas BEFORE powering on the aircraft to prevent damaging the radio!
