Arming the DRS-25 on PRISM Sky

This page provides instructions for arming the DRS-25 on PRISM Sky.

Items you will need:

After successfully Installing the DRS-25 on PRISM Sky and Configuring the DRS-25 on PRISM Sky it is now time to proceed with the final step for arming the DRS-25 on PRISM Sky. Continue following the instructions below.

STEP 1: With the aircraft powered down install the DRS-25 parachute insert. To install parachute insert the DRS-25 must be unmounted. To do this unscrew the data and power cable and remove the canister from the mount by pulling out on the safety knob and gently sliding the canister up. Place the canister on a hard flat surface such as a table or floor. Remove white plastic cap from the parachute canister, set aside.

WARNING: Never unplug the parachute when the aircraft is powered on. Be very careful and be sure to fully understand how the DRS-25 functions mechanically by visually and physically inspecting prior to arming and prior to proceeding with the next steps.

STEP 2: Arming the canister can be done by one person however, it is recommended for two people to perform this step until comfortable doing it on your own. To do this we recommend using a 12" long object such as the handle of a hammer but anything long and strong enough can be used as long as it can reach to the bottom of the canister.

With the canister on a flat surface and held in place push the plate mechanism all the way down while another person unlatches the white locking pin at the bottom to allow the spring loaded plate mechanism to sit all the way in place. Once the plate is down as far as it can go and the white latch is in the open position, close the white latch back into place to hold in the plate in the locked position. Check to make sure the plate did lock in place by carefully and slowly releasing tension on your compression tool. If the plate comes up with your compression tool you must repeat this step until you successfully lock the plate in place.

WARNING: Be careful not to accidentally deploy the parachute when it is armed and empty. An accidental dry deployment can damage the DRS-25 indefinitely.

CAUTION: Although the insert has not been installed, at this point the DRS-25 parachute is armed.

STEP 3: While tightly holding the parachute insert, remove the rubber bands around the white cover and set aside. While holding the insert, locate the lanyard with metal carabiner then carefully slide the insert into the canister and ensure the perforated end of the white paper cover goes into the canister first with the lanyard + carabiner is at the top. Ensure enough the lanyard has been carefully guided out of the canister enough to wrap around the back left arm socket. Reinstall the white cap back on top of the canister.

STEP 4: Reinstall the DRS-25 canister back onto the DRS-25 mount on PRISM Sky following the instructions for Installing the DRS-25 on PRISM Sky and reconnect the parachute data and power cable.

STEP 5: Carefully wrap the lanyard + carabiner included with the parachute insert around the back left arm socket. Secure any slack to the parachute mount using Velcro or electrical tape.

WARNING: Ensure the lanyard is secured and clear of being struck by the propellers.

STEP 5: Reinstall propellers.

STEP 6: At this time the DRS-25 system installation and configuration is complete and is ready for flight.
