PRISM SA02: "Hot Plugging" Arm Socket

5/19/2021

It has come to our attention that some customers have attempted to "hot plug" in an arm/motor system while the vehicle is powered on

As per the warning sticker placed on each of the arm sockets, it is imperative that the arm sockets must be closed BEFORE power is applied to the system and must remain closed at all times while the vehicle is powered up. The arm system is not designed to be hot plugged into the aircraft arm socket while the drone is powered.

If the aircraft is powered on and a particular arm socket is opened and closed again, it can damage the internal electronics including each arm's Propulsion ID chip, as well as the aircraft's onboard companion computer. The aircraft will then be grounded and will not arm due to its internal safety features. The aircraft must then be sent back to our factory for repair.

In light of this news, we will now be including the warning card shown above with all new aircraft, as well as sending them to each and every one of our current customers so that their pilots and techs may be aware of this issue. If you are a PRISM owner, please be aware of this issue and notify your team of this matter.

Moving forward....

So long as the arm socket is closed and the latch pin is in place, this system will provide hundreds of hours worth of worry-free operation. If you have not experienced this yet, do not worry! As long as the arm socket remains closed whenever there is power applied to the system there is absolutely nothing to be concerned about.

As always, please feel free to reach out to us at any time with questions or concerns at info@wattsinnovations.com.
